I read about your job interview earlier, congrats!! Regarding the car hunt, that is such a pain in the ass. Have you heard of a band called Old Crow Medicine Show? If not I'll send to you, I think you will like them. Hope you enjoy the DVD, it's long, so get prepared, the interviews are good though, gives you a lot of insight into Edwards. He thinks very differently than I do on many things but damn that music is golden.

They are playing about 12 miles up the road from ny house in October at the local "opera house." I ordered my tickets tonight. I just bought their cd this week, had heard them before but had never bought the cd. Going to see Son Volt in less than a month.

altho the kids christian mix tape sounds pretty scary too!

yeah, at college there was one other guy i knew who could stomach TG for any length of time. we'd often put it on when i'd drop in for dinner with him and his wife. she could tolerate it.

i remember the first time we listened to a full album-- he turned to me and said, "you know, i think you're the only other person who's listened to the whole thing with me". must be that being hit on the head by a tree in a tornade when i was 2 thing that did it to me... :silly:

25. The radio... Styx
come sail away

Written by dennis deyoung
Lead vocals by dennis deyoung

I’m sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea
I’ve got to be free, free to face the life that’s ahead of me
On board, I’m the captain, so climb aboard
We’ll search for tomorrow on every shore
And I’ll try, oh lord, I’ll try to carry on

I look to the sea, reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy, some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever, so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold
But we’ll try best that we can to carry on

A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said
They said come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise
They climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies
Singing come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

34. having driven thru western Iowa @ 3:00 am at least once...
...with nothing but a crappy AM radio, i know EXACTLY of what you speak.

my band was driving back to Minneapolis after a gig in Sioux City, IA. we had to come back the same night because our (then-)drummer had to be at his day job the next morning. so we drove down, played like hell, and then left around 1:00 AM for the six-hour drive back-- mostly on highways, very few interstates. bleah.

at least the northern lights were out.... there's nothing like seeing them when it's completely black and they're dancing across your windshield... amazing

Higher and Higher

Your love, lifting me higher
Than i've ever been lifted before
So keep it it up
Quench my desire
And i'll be at your side, forever more

You know your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on lifting (love keeps lifting me)
Higher (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
I said your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on (love keeps lifting me)
Lifting me (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)

Now once, I was down hearted
Disappointment, was my closest friend
But then you, came and it soon departed
And you know he never
Showed his face again

I'm so glad, i've finally found you
Yes that one, in a million girls
And I whip, my loving arms around you
I can stand up, and face the world

...Now that's some cool sap!!

To Have And Not To Hold

To have and not to hold
So hot, yet so cold
My heart is in your hand
And yet you never stand
Close enough for me to have my way

To love but not to keep
To laugh, not to weep
Your eyes, they go right through
And yet you never do
Anything to make me want to stay

You're to have, not to hold
You're to have, not to hold

Like a moth to a flame
Only I am to blame
Ba ba da ba ba ba
What can I do?
Ba ba da ba ba ba
I go straight to you
Ba ba da ba ba ba
I've been told
You're to have, not to hold

To look but not to see
To kiss but never be
The object of your desire
I'm walking on a wire
And there's no one at all
To break my fall

You're to have, not to hold
You're to have, not to hold
You're to have, not to hold
To break my heart

excellent listening when you're rearranging a room
