Back from the beach - any advice on keeping that vacation state of mind |
|
going as long as possible?
I kept the radio tuned to Florida gulf coast stations as long as the reception held out. Then I cranked up the Jimmy Buffet CDs. I kept the sun roof on my borrowed car open as long as possible (wouldn't you know it would start raining the closer I got to home?). I refuse to shake the sand out of my shoes for the time being.
Any other tips (serious or otherwise) on keeping that relaxed thing going as long as possible after a vacation ends? I sure could use that beach buzz as I re-enter "real life" this week!
Hope everyone is well - I missed you guys!
:hi:
P.S. Anyone heard from Maddy McCall since she left for Crawford? I'm very much looking forward to her reports!

1. Don't sweep, leave the sand on the floor.... |
|
and it will be just like living at the beach. :)

Great advice. And then we won't notice the dirt I left on the floor before I finally took off for the beach!

6. Brown-skinned and blonde-headed |
|
Thank God for the former, since I usually look like Casper next to the rest of my family!
And as for the latter, remember "Sun-In" that used to turn everyone's hair green or orange? Well, I can't afford highlights, and I saw it at the pharmacy for about three bucks, and said, "what the hell - if it is still around, 20 years later, they have to have fixed it, right?" I might have been a little buzzed on beer and margaritas at the time, but I'm not saying!
It's good to be home!

5. I got lost on purpose three times on the way home |
|
Finally the rest of my family, following me in our non-borrowed, and significantly less fun to ride in, car, read me the riot act when we stopped for gas (holy moly was it expensive in the Florida panhandle!) so I had to head for home after that. But we did spend an extra hour riding on bayside roads early this afternoon!

13. That's Called "Takin' the Long Way Home!" |
|
Remember that song! We should all take the "roads less traveled," these days! Gas: Up to almost $3.00 in my region.
P.S. Miss driving those bay-side roads. Cape Cod leaves fond memories. Awwwhhhh... the seaside breeze, blue oceans, salt in the air.
Ok, now you've got me wanting to go on a long, extended and much needed vacation. Go back to the beach!
:) :hi: Kidding...

10. Here's what I do to keep summery feeling in winter. I take a shower |
|
and then use suntan lotion as moisturizer. That cocoa butter smell takes me right to relaxation.

The first thing someone said to me when I dropped my daughter off for her first day of school...."You smell like the BEACH!"
That helped.

19. I had to shower for work this morning |
|
But took Mrs Grumpy's advice above - that helped.
Couldn't take warrens advice below, though, and had to go back to work - that didn't help at all. It was good advice I wish I could have followed!
So no sand left other than that in the suitcase and shoes. Any other ideas? That was a good one.

When I go to the beach(or anywhere I really like) I always buy shoes. Then every time you wear them you can remember the feeling of being there.
