SIX FEET UNDER - OH MY GOD!!!!!
You gotta watch this show TONIGHT!!!

If you don't have HBO, go over to someone's house who has it and watch it or demand that they tape it and send it to you.

Or, get Edonkey2000 and download it illegally off the net.

Whatever you do, you must watch tonight's episode.

61. Yes, he was my friend.
He went by his middle name Andrew. He was cleaning up his life by joining the military. He had done a number of bad things, but was finally doing good. He hoped to come home and become a police officer (mostly to keep other kids from making his mistakes). He died 2 weeks shy of coming home from his 2nd tour.

How many other youths are being spent like this ?

Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 09:04 PM by Lindsey
These past three episodes have been unparalled on any show I've ever seen. I think when Nate was coming to everybody it's more of an "inner dialogue." Brenda doesn't believe in an afterlife so that's the conversation she was having with Nate. Same as when he and Clair are talking at his grave site. She regrets not getting to know him better. I wonder what the hell's going to happen with Brenda's baby. I'm lookin' forward to the special tomorrow night about the making of this show - the best imho - ever.

33. Way to go to the writers for bringing
up all the things Clair had to say (even in her drunken stuper) about the war. That's exactly how I feel when I see a "support your troops" sticker on an SUV. What an incredibly horrible beginning with the Iraq war veteran - I guess the show's going out how it came in - with true to life and shocking events.

40. ****Spoiler*** Stanwyck
It starts off with a woman driving up to a VA hospital and she gets something out of her purse. She walks into a hospital room (actually there are many patients in the room but she draws the curtain). In the room is a young man, her brother, who has lost both legs and part of an arm. She asks him if he's sure and he says yes. He then injects something lethal into his chest and dies. The show continues to weave it's anti-war stance throughout. Clair even said that the news doesn't show the injured and maimed. These writers deserve every emmey available as do the actors/actresses.

was totally wasted and didn't know who the mother was and what the circumstances were. I just appreciate the fact that there's an intelligent show that has the guts to show things for what they are through the characters and the situations. How often do we see that?

43. East coast feed... spoilers!
I have DISH so I caught the early bird special.

Man, oh, man! These last episodes have ranked right up there as the best in the series! When the Brenda and Billy thing started up, I was like, 'They are not going to go there!' -- and they did!

The deep irony of Ruth being the one to be with Brenda during the birth -- I think this could finally be the thing that finally breaks the ice between the two of them.

I can't help but think the writers/producers have decided they needed to take every opportunity possible to voice their political views these last few times. Tonight's was hardcore -- between the suicide of the soldier and Clair's meltdown -- they were telling a lot of truth. I was crying like a baby this whole show.

I can't wait for the final episode. I'm so glad they were able to get back on track this last season.

Brenda and Billy didn't go there. It was a dream...thank God!!! I agree about them being really bold politically this season..Every show has had some derogratory reference to *, the administration, the war, etc. Yea, really ironic that it was Ruth who's with Brenda - man - I wonder what the last show will hold...I don't think they'll tie up loose ends and make it pretty.

72. I think they balance each other out.
Edited on Mon Aug-15-05 01:56 PM by Kurovski
I don't see Ted as a Bush-bot, I think he would have bailed long ago if that were the case, he was even given a gracious offer to leave that night.

He seems to be genuinely concerned about others and likely felt the Iraq war was going to free Iraqis from tyranny. I think he said as much in their first-date argument

Maybe he's been so busy with his lawyer-ing that he's not been able to keep up with the hard-to-find truth about Iraq. (I love that they make him a lawyer in the show.)

He was very tolerant and understanding of Claire's inappropriate outburst and still maintained a protective attitude toward her. (He literally could have spared Claire her accident, although her talk graveside was important) I feel as though there is an even larger theme, perhaps about Iraq, in those occurrences. (Ted can also help her keep those wolves at bay.)

Claire's passion/ Ted's stability combined with their decency, intelligence and humor is a pretty great combo.

Larger theme: They can work well together despite vast differences in beliefs. As one who is weary of the simplistic and fairly dishonest meme of red/blue Americans, I'm all for them getting together.

Besides, I think given time, and with our vast ownership and iron-fisted control of world media, liberals would be able to steal his very mind and soul!! Bwahahaha!

OMG! This is the first time I've disagreed with you, LynneSin.
Does this mean you won't be my date for the Claire/Ted wedding? ;-)

51. SFU has knocked me on my ass the past couple weeks (Spoilers)
The death tonight was one of the most upsetting and realistic ones on the show so far. I hope none of our injured soldiers do that for real although I'm sure it has/does happen.

As for the rest of the episode well it was another damn near perfect one. Nate appearing to everyone and fucking with them for the most part. So many times tonight I was saying "No" outloud. Hoping Claire would stop with her tirade against the mother (more on that in a bit), hoping Claire wasn't dead, hoping Billy wasn't going to do anything to Brenda and hoping Brenda didn't lose the baby.

What Claire said to the mother are all points I agree with but that was a very unfortunate time to say them. She was drunk and that is why she did it but it was very unfortunate. Much like the drunk with stupidity freepers chanting down Cindy.

I had a fairly good idea of where I thought the show was going to go until Nate died. Now I am just a long for the ride and can't wait to see where the brilliant writers of SFU take us. Next week the SERIES FINALE was written and directed by Alan Ball, the creator of SFU. I've heard portions of the next episode take place in the future so we see what has happened to the characters. What I heard could be wrong though.

64. I think it's Brenda who might die and the baby live.
They did that white light thing on her at the very end, but cut it short with the credits before the birth and death dates. She also crossed a line in admitting she loves her brother and not just in a sisterly way, like Nate did when he committed adultery with Maggie. So I think she will go bye, bye.

70. I didn't see next week's scenes.
So I guess we'll have to wait to find out.

It'll do that to you. A cups swell to D's sometimes...

The only downside about it is those who get the swelling often complain that it hurts.

Rachel Griffiths (the actress who plays Brenda) is really pregnant IRL.

68. Those weren't D-cups - they had to be much bigger than that
No wonder her brother has the hots for her

73. Rachel...
has always had huge jugs (she does a nude scene in the Alan Rickman hairdressing movie) but now they are HUGE, like ready-to-overtake-the-planet huge!

75. LOL, "overtake the planet"
I know a lot of folks who would revel in the tyranny.

79. I think that she filmed though while she was pregnant
:D

She's such a talented actress though. I adored her after the first movie I saw her in - "Murial's Wedding"

74. YEah!! I was hoping there would be a 6FU thread today!
Okay, I missed first part of show, will watch repeat tonight - haven't been a loyal watcher of the show because I've had HBO off and on - mostly on now thanks to Bill Maher!!

But anyway - WHAT THE HELL IS IT WITH BRENDA & BILLY?? Are they really brother & sister - or step - adopted? Man, that was very freaky!!! I can't wait for the 75 minute LAST EPISODE! The writing is brilliant - and as another poster pointed out - the music! The music they played when Brenda was in labor - was something to the effect of something's wrong.... so i don't know, but I was on the edge of my seat!

Saw repeat last night - saw the first part I missed - and Claire's rant was awesome.

I didn't know Kathy Bates was a Director of it? That was somewhat surprising, although not really I guess - but she is such a perfect fit for this show.

Also, is David's boyfriend Matthew is gay in real life? I was on phone and missed some of the recap show - anyone know?

And again, anybody know what the hell is with Brenda & Billy "being in love"??

Thought Nate's comment was beautiful that the Terminator and Maria Shiver are probably brother & sister - and I loved how Claire called Ted a facist republican! This show is just so awesome - I'm so sad to see it go - especially when it seems to me it is just hitting its prime!
