OMG the employee discount is spreading
All of the US car mfg. are doing it and now I see a commercial for Menards (a home improvement store) offering their employee discount.

Do you think they want us to buy more stuff?

1. I think the "Employee Discount" has been a huge success...
and so everyone is jumping on the "bandwagon". Retail sales have been soft recently so all companies are trying everything can to bring people into the stores.

3. That is a good question
I do know that in the case of the car makers, they were not giving the true employee discount, but it was still a significant enough discount to be attractive.

4. I know Chrysler and GM's were exactly the same as the employee
discount. My father gets the GM discount and it was the same as they were offering. (We checked) and my brother in law works for Chrysler, and the rate for the Pacifica that we just got with his discount was the same. :hi:

6. I guess I was misinformed
one of my friend's brother works for a car maker, and she told me that their discount was slightly higher than the one offered to the public.

9. I know some of the auto makers give out two discounts and lable
them A and X. X is for white collar types while A is for hourly. (not sure on the letters). Perhaps she gets the different discount than the hourly workers? We get the hourly worker discount through my bil. :hi:

10. That could be

Had no idea there were tiers in the employee discount programs (that seems very regressive to me!)

16. YEP! That's the way to do it!
I try to finish my work before noon ... so that I CAN go out & play.

AND I could solve the worlds problems ... if people would learn to listen to me ... before it's time that I could say 'see I told you' (which I rarely ever say ... but I think it a lot!)

21. I agree.
It's pretty bad when a company like Daimler-Chrysler has to drag out Iacocca. I don't know why, but those commercials bug the living crap out of me.

And Ford, with their "America's car company" bullshit.
