My dog went camping for the first time,
and did not even try to kill anyone. Except for wanting to eat the guy on the moped and the kid on the bike, that is.

Considering the life the poor fella had up until his rescue, I was quite proud of him. Getting him socialized to people is hopefully not going to be as hard as I thought.

1. What a sweet baby! My dog (a pampered Sheltie princess) hates
going camping...especially when we (horrors!) make her ride in a canoe. :hi:

4. This guy was at a high-kill shelter in West Virginia,
my wife and I drove there to get him last winter. He likes us a lot, he likes my stepdaughter, her husband and their daughter, but pretty much wants to scare the piss out of anyone else.

He is so scared of people, we just want to try to get him over it.

7. Poor thing. I hope, with time, he's able to socialize, but he will
probably always be overprotective of you. :hi:

2. Do you ever take him to the nearest fast food place drive thru
for a hamburger or sasauge patty?

5. Yep, he likes to ride
and is pretty good at the drive-thru, except for one time when the drive-thru person reached too far out of the window towards me, then he barked like crazy. If I do the reaching, he merely waits for his cheeseburger.

9. Sounds like he is extremely happy with you, loyal to you
and more than willing to protect you from any potential threat.

6. He is happy now,
when he was found he was tied to a tree with no food or water, he weighed 42 pounds. We have him up to a slightly too-plump 90 pounds now.

8. Good job :)
He's certainly lucky to have ended up with you :)

That's a wonderful recovery :) More camping trips and some access to squirrel chasing and such will get him down to a svelt 85 or so :)

12. Thank you!
I love shepherds too, we had them when I was growing up... that's all we had. They are wonderful dogs.

Your baby is so lucky to have found you!

Here's to more camping trips!
