Everyone else seems to be ranting tonight so I am going to do some too! |
|
I am so pissed off about two things:
1. My boyfriend fell, broke his ankle, and now is refusing my assistance in ANYTHING. I cannot look anything up for him, when I did he refused to use the information I found for him. I cannot help with any of the bills (he has no insurence), and when he found some insurence that he maybe able to use, he refuses to let me help with that either! I am perfectlly willing to give the money, free and clear, to him. I do mind at all helping him out. He is my boyfriend, I like him very much and it makes me happy to know he will be okay and that *I* helped! But noooooooooooooooooooooooooo...just because other people in his life have gotten annoyed with him, I can not help out! ARGH! I live in another state and it is the only way I can actually assist him in more then a person on the other end of the phone line. It is not even that much money, just $45 for this insurence that would cover him until his foot heals. End rant one.
2. Walgreens sucks! I went to put in some film I took of my trip to San Fran, San Diego and some other pictures I once took of friends and family. Unfortunately I had to do this quite late. When I got to Walgreens since my local grocery store no longer develops film, I found that they no longer let you use those little paper bags to drop it off or a bin to put it into if that section is closed. Now I have to get up earlier then normal (I work swing so I generally stay up late as I am a night owl) and go during the heat of the day to another store because I sure as hell am not going back there anytime soon. I do not have a car and have to use the bus to get where I want to go. They suck! ARGH!
Thank you for listening to my idiotic rantings. I feel better now. :)

2. The thing that really bothers me is the first one. |
|
I hate knowing someone I care about is in a jam and they refuse to let me help them.

3. guys are weirdly stubborn |
|
Trust me on that one. For some reason, we often don't want help when we can use it, and we pretty much don't think at all. He probably doesn't even understand how much it bothers you. Guys are like that. Sometimes, even if a woman says that it bothers her or that they are hurt that a guy won't accept her help, us dumbos just think you are all being dramatic or something. To us it seems like a sign of weakness to accept help in a situation like that. It's stupid, I know. I'm sure he doesn't mean to cause you any pain, he's just being typically prideful and macho. I swear without you good women out there to take care of us, we'd still be in caves right now. :) Just try not to let it hurt you though. He may come around and accept your help eventually. Even if he doesn't he'll definitely appreciate that you were there for him when he needed you. Eventually. :)

7. On the first point - he's just being a man |
|
It's just what we're like.
I can understand your position on an intellectual level - but I also know that I'd be just the same as he is.
He will not perceive that he's hurting you - in fact (and I say this as gently as possible), it may be irritating him if you're (in his perception) pushing help onto him.
Yes, it's a screwy thing to think - but we men are as irrational as the best of them. I'm afraid that the only that you can do is let him get on with it, let him know that he can ask for help, but don't appear to be pushy. I'm speaking from experience of what drives me mad.
It does sound like you need a big hug though -
