Why "Heart of Darkness?" It is not that long, only 77 pages. It is beautifully written. Most important of all, it is about the violent colonial urge that has overwhelmed * and the Neo-cons causing them to invade other countries right and left, claiming those countries natural resources (i.e their oil) as the US's god given right. It explores the ways that people lie to themselves as they lose their humanity in their ruthless pursuit of power. In the end, it broaches the troublesome question of why the people at home let the atrocities keep happening.

Cindy Sheehan is the anti-thesis of Kurtz's "Intended". She is a woman who refuses to be lied to. She has allowed herself to see The Horror. And the world is not coming to an end, as Conrad's narrator feared that it would. Instead, a new world is dawning.
