the network is down at my work today...from the latest worm
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 11:20 AM by MindPilot
 We told 'em. We IT techs have been telling management for five years we need to get SMS in place so we can push out these updates when they are released, but no that would cost too much money.

I thought maybe they would get a clue when we were down for three days when the Sasser virus hit, but no that would cost too much money.

So now here we sit once again with about 3000 people standing around doing nothing and cut off from the rest of the world while we techs go to each and every computer and load the latest patches.

I hope management is enjoying their cost-saving decisions. :sarcasm:

1. First rule of management:
Don't do anything until you absolutely have to.

2. If your network is "down", how are you posting on DU?
"So now here we sit once again with about 3000 people standing around doing nothing"

and at least one person posting on an internet discussion site.

4. You don't work for Pfizer, do you?
The same reason I'm sitting around here... we're contracted to them, and can't get into any systems there right now.... *twiddles thumbs*

Time for online training.... wheeee!

5. Pfizer?
For as much $$$$ as a company like that pours into advertising you'd think they could have a functioning computer network. Just had to respond. Medical waste is a big sore spot with me.

8. one would think, but one would be wrong
they'll spend a million dollars on paneling for the executive suites but if an accountant needs a memory upgrade so she doesn't have to re-create the budget spreadsheet twice before lunch, that's too much money.

9. You'd think....
But nope, apparently they got it, or at least one branch did. I don't know how far-reaching it is within the company, could just be the branch we work for...

You're more in a position to get in trouble for that than I am!
