You can do something USEFUL to support troops. |
|
Thanks to TexasLawyer who posted about this in GD. You can go to www.anysoldier.com and read messages from troops in Iraq telling about the things they really need there. Stuff the military doesn't supply.
A link www.treatanysoldier.com even has prepackaged "care packages" they will send. Just put it on a credit card.
There is also a list of other suppliers who will ship to an APO address.
For absolutely FREE (except for paper, envelope, and a stamp) you can send a letter of encouragement. I wouldn't get into politics, just a "we're thinking about you and hope you can come back home soon" kind of thing.
Scroll through the lists and find a soldier from your home state. Whatever.
IMHO, this is a terrific way to show that although we do not support this "war", we do support the people who have been sent there.

3. Anysoldier is awesome. I saw this posted on DU last fall... |
|
And presented the idea of sending care packages to the troops for Xmas. It was quite successful and we sent 2 dozen boxes to several troops. I used to be an Avon rep and had TONS of nail polish, lotions and stuff sitting around. I noted at the time that a lot of the women over there just wanted stuff to make them feel like 'women' again... so off it all went.
I suggest using the flat-rate Priority Mail boxes - saves a BUNDLE.
Thanks for posting!

"Consultant" was her title, I think. Back in the 60s. Traveled the southeast putting on makeup demonstrations at department stores. She always had tons of samples. Men's stuff too. I was the best smelling guy in town for years.
