"if you go to the tomb of confucius, you will find it occupied...
if you go to the tomb of buddha, you will find it occupied

but if you go to the tomb of jesus, you will find it empty

that is because he is a risen saviour"

(i just heard this ad on the local radio station 5 minutes ago)

"because you can take confucius out of confucianism and still have confucianism

you can take buddha out of buddhism and still have buddhism

but you can't take jesus out of christianity & still have christianity

this message brought to you by ______ baptist church"

we sure do live in an interesting country

1. Ok...whatever.
That...doesn't really mean anything, actually. But if it floats their boat...

7. Uh, no
Jesus, Buddha, and Confucius were messengers. It's the message that lives.

8. I see that you're in New Mexico
And I know there are probably some Buddhist temples in Taos or Santa Fe, maybe other places. But surely there aren't too many in the state. That brings me to my question: is this church trying to flip/convert Buddhists (I won't even ask about the thriving New Mexico Confucian community)? Or is the church sending out a "we're number 1" sort of message to the faithful?

For what it's worth, they may have a point, which is a big part of the problem. I think Jesus, from what I've read, was a very decent guy. It's his adherents I'm concerned with. They've gotten into a whole cult of personality issue with Jesus, and they've twisted his words.
