Do you think Rock fans hold Metallica to too high of a standard? |
|
I mean really if some other band would put out the same quality of albums as their last three they would have been praised for their efforts, but since they are Metallica they get lambasted for selling out.

1. I LOVE their last three albums, they are their best work to date. |
|
Obviously all that counseling has paid off. And cleaning up helped too. Like it did with Megadeth, and Nine Inch Nails!
Do I really need to post this -> :sarcasm:

6. I'm not saying they were anywhere close to their best work. |
|
But if a lesser band would have put them out they wouldn't have been criticized near as harshly.
For example their albums "Load" and "Re-Load" if a lesser band such as 3 Doors Down would have put them out they would have been hailed as the new Messiah's of Rock.

It was formulatic. I grant you, next to the absolute SHIT that's been marketed as metal for the last 10 years, they are quite good, but they still suck ass.
In fact, Metallica's only decent work these days has been their covers. Probably a trend which started when they did Breadfan.

Didn't they all die in a horrible bob rock production accident back in the early nineties?
The new suicidal tendencies however is ok, just wish more than the bassist was involved. :p

3. No, Metal fans hate them for going commercial. |
|
If they hadn't lied to the fans and dismissed them then everything would have been fine but they chose to go commercial and abandon their principles. Fuck Metallica.
St. Anger is just horribly bad by anyone's standard.

It was all downhill ever since the black album. They even ripped off Spinal Tap in the process - talk about telling your fans you think they're a bunch of fucking morons. Which, if you're still a fan of Metallica, you actually are.

7. It's because they're not playing Metallica songs anymore |
|
I like System Of A Down and Johnny Cash but if SOAD started playing Johnny Cash like music I'd be pissed. Metallica needs to grab a couple cases of Whiskey and start listening to some Motorhead albums, then start producing an album.
