He has been gone for 13 years now, but in many ways (other than gender, of course) I am a virtual carbon copy of him. Same temperment, same sense of humor. But I hope to hell I don't get the kidney disease that killed him. To that end, I drink the water that he never did...and more.

5. My dad was my bud growing up |
|
Of course, I only saw him every other Sundays because my parents were divorced. And of course, I married a guy who is just like my dad...Mr Beastman is goofy, artistic, smart and laid back.
I never understood my mom growing up. As an adult, her thought processes completely make sense and we get along great now.

6. equidistant from both. |
|
We're cordial to one another and have a sense of familial duty and responsibility, but that's where it stops.

I got along with my father very well because when I was a little kid, both of my older siblings never wanted to play with me, but my dad would always go out of his way, just to play with me, and we would spend hours on end playing with my toys, and he really got into plays with my toys. I also get along with my mother very well and the relationship between us both have gotten closer, since my father passed away a year ago.

I was 14. I moved out 2 years later which tells you how well I got along with my dad.

11. I get along with both of them about the same. |
|
We all get along pretty well. But when I was growing up, my dad was gone almost all of the time for work, so I was much closer to my mom than my dad.

I never felt that I was ever good enough for my mother. Her love seemed very conditional. She was also moody and unpredictable. She was always right. She was always the one that got hurt and we weren't allowed to feel hurt by anything that she said. To make matters worse, she married an abusive jerk and stayed with him because he had money. My father wasn't moody in an angry way as we got older and he didn't yell at us for not doing well enough. As a result, I generally got along with him better.

I adored this woman.... I met her when I was 14 years old....so she, really, was like a mother to me.
