Things that make you utterly, unbelievably thankful |
|
Tonight my long-distance relationship reached its most difficult point, because Mr. Fricasseed Gourmet Rat is currently 2500 miles away and was going to be climbing several mountains with his friends. He does this a lot, but usually he's back by 6:00 PM Mountain time (8:00 PM Eastern time, which is where I am).
I was so worried when the clock hit 11:00 PM (9:00 PM Mountain) and I still hadn't heard from him. I really, really, really started to worry. He's a very athletic 20-something, a very experienced hiker and climber, and he's smart enough to not do anything TOO stupid. But I was insanely nervous and couldn't concentrate on anything.
Then I got an e-mail from his mom. He'd called her and asked her to e-mail me to tell her that he's okay and that he'd be home in about two hours. And that meant the world to me, since I'd felt so helpless and knew I wouldn't be able to get an ounce of sleep until I heard from him. And luckily this long-distance relationship will be short-distance rather soon.
Anybody else want to share experiences that amounted to "THANK YOU GOD, BECAUSE I KNOW THERE IS A GOD NOW, OR MAYBE SOME FORM OF OMNIPRESENT DIVINITY, AND I AM UTTERLY UNBELIEVABLY THANKFUL AND NOW I WILL SACRIFICE THIS GOAT OR MAYBE NOT BUT YOU GET THE GIST OF IT" -- ??

4. So glad he is safe and you won't have that sleepless night! |

:hi:
On my birthday a couple of weeks back, my brother called me to let me talk to my 4 yr old niece and my 2 year old newphew. They wanted to wish me happy birtday. They both chatted with me and made me laugh and then told me they loved me. It was the best gift!
I haven't been invited over to play with them in months, I had a falling out with their mom - my silly liberal self insulted her fundie family at a party. I'm the relative you don't politics with - the crazy leftie, anti-American.
But my babies called to tell their MiMi that they loved and missed her. That was my THANK YOU GOD -- the day had been a shitty day up until that point.

That really stinks that their mother would let politics get in the way of you being able to see your family, but I'm very happy that the little ones talked to you.

They are special little people.
It's not quite the Thank God moment you had today, but it was my moment. It was just what I needed and it was just so sweet.
