What people don't realize is his office was full of `em, busy plotting and scheming. The lobbying for Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court originated in Quayle's office. Quayle was the connection to the right wing crazies that Bush, Sr., didn't have.

In the sense that his life and (non) career eerily shadows W. Dim-bulb, frat guy, shirks Viet Nam w/ National Guard, national office; it's just freaky how he parallels W. I always thought that when Bush I picked Quayle as his running mate he was picking a better (in his eyes) version of his son, W.
