Has anyone else gotten crazy looks when explaining the DU lounge?

I tried to describe it awhile ago to a group of friends, and you would have thought that I was talking about Xenu! They thought it was strange that such a close knit group of people were together on the web like this.

4. You really can't explain it

I try to tell my boyfriend things about the Lounge sometimes, but it doesn't translate. It's always a "You had to be there" story.

5. I made my husband read a lounge thread the other day....

I posted a question concerning my car problems the other day and people here were extremely helpful. My husband read the thread and asked "who are these people and why do they know so much about this?".

I explained to him that you could ask about any subject in the lounge and you would be guaranteed two things: 1. someone will know all there is to know about the subject and 2. someone else will post a smart ass funny remark.

I find the collective refusal to be on topic rather refreshing. :P If I want something focused I go to GD P or LBN or something.
