Geroge W. Bush vs. Bond.... James Bond
SPECTRE - the Special Executive for Counterintelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion - was created by Ian Fleming and Kevin McClory for the story 'Thunderball', published in 1961.

SPECTRE headquarters have been situated at No. 136 Boulevard Haussmann, Paris, concealed by the appearance of a reputable charity, and later at Piz Gloria in the Swiss Alps.

and then there was.....

Arbusto later became Bush Exploration, when Bush's father became vice president. As the company neared financial collapse in September 1984, it was merged with Spectrum 7 Energy Corp. in an effort to stay afloat.

2. Well...just to go along with what you say...
I got involved with this weeks Bond Fest and remarked to my hubby that the Bush Evil Empire reminds me of Spectre from the old Bond movies.

And, I've said many times here on DU, I feel we here are living in a Spy Novel where each day a new page turns with another piece of information revealed.

We know Carlyle Group is a multi-national involved in some oddly apparently disconnected enterprises from arms sales to media to who knows what all else. We know the Saudi's heavily invest everywhere. And then there's Bush and Poppy's friendship with Putin ...SMERSH...which had some members defect into Specter..(was that From Russia with Love?)

Who knows...Anything is possible these days to believe.

4. There's a famous, dead journalist
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 03:53 PM by HEyHEY
Named Jack Webster, he's an old Scotsman, I know his grandson he told me when his grandpa was in his 20s he was running communication for the British Army. There was a guy he used to work with that spent all day drawing spies, and submarine cars, and writing short stories about spies.
He used to always walk into the guy's office and yell, "God dammit Ian, do some work!"
And the rest is history.

17. The "Puffs" are the Skull&Bones sorority of Chilton
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 07:51 AM by underpants
Sandra Day O'Connor is said to have moved them to a different lunch table back in '47, it was very controversial.

A secret society that members are not allowed to discuss in public. Rory Gilmore was advised by one of the guidance counselors (they have guidance counselors at Chilton???) to be more social. She randomly chose one table to sit down at during lunch and engage in conversation it just happened to be the Puffs (one of ten sororities at Chilton but the only one worth mentioning).
