Profile "comments"... can someone clue me in?

Hello all! OK, so if I go to edit my user profile, under the comments section it says I can enter up to 255 characters.

Any comments that you wish to share with other users Plain text only...HTML tags will be removed. Maximum number of characters allowed in 255

Yet its cutting me off at exactly 100 characters each time. That's not much room to work with! Should I continue to bang my head against the wall or is this a known issue?

but, this should be sent as an email to the administrator, the mods are hardcore about deleting any threads to do with the way they operate
