There have been, on occasion, posters here whose words served only to aggravate and inflame. Far better for me (or others) to put such a person on ignore than to be in a situation of perpetual aggravation.

I have no problem reading the words, views, and opinions of people here with whom I do not agree. I do draw the line at subjecting myself to deliberate baiting and poking.

So I undid my ignore, and felt much better...

Some folks here I find difficult or unpleasant to read...I just skip them...

Not that there's anything bad about needing crutches from time to time. People are fluid creatures. Sometimes we are strong, sometimes not so strong. Right now I'm feeling pretty strong.

There was a period of time where the behavior of two fellow DUers bothered me so much I relied on Ignore. Now I just laugh at their chronic bad social behavior and respond to them when I feel like it. I've also sublimated my feelings about those individuals by making computer systems search for them every few minutes to make sure a Web application is running. It's kind of like electronic pseudo-Voodoo (acknowledging that sticking pins into effigies of people is not true Voodoo as practiced in the New World).

I don't think you can tell if someone has you on ignore. One person posted to me and announced they were putting me on ignore, but I think that's the only way you'll ever know. (Funny thing was that it was a brand new poster who claimed I was being too mean. I'm mellow to the point of being boring. I doubt they lasted very long here.)
