Leftover questions about Six Feet Under |
|
#1) What doctor was Maggie visiting when Ruth called her?
#2) What changed in Brenda that the last time we saw her with Ghost Nate, Ghost nate wasn't being critical about her and their new daughter Willa? The last seen he finally said what a beautiful baby she was.

1. #1) I thought it might be a gyno but they never |
|
went further, it's over, so I'm probably way off. 2) I think what changed WAS Ghost Nate not being critical and accepting that all was finally well with Willa; that released Brenda's angst. (maybe)

2. #1 - She's a pharmaceutical sales rep |
|
She was doing a sales call.
#2 All of the "ghosts" they show are not really ghosts but inner dialogue the characters are having.
In this case, it was Brenda finally coming to accept her child and love her...

4. But the doctor sees sales reps |
|
It is an appointment after all, and I'm sure nurses say that to all callers.

7. But they could have had Maggie anywhere when she got that call |
|
but they specifically filmed it with her at a doctor's office - which leaves open many questions!

5. I think these are the answers |
|
I think people who have tivo'd it and seen the end a couple times have said that Maggie is pregnant, and assumed that the doctors was an obgyn or some such pregnancy doctor. :)
As for 2, I thought about this alot. I think that the ghost Nate appeared and was critical of her because of her fears and her anxiety about having the defective Willa, and being a defective single mother. I think that Ruth's reaching out to her put Nate at ease because she needed the help, and the rift between them healed. Ruth's line that Nate loved Brenda as best he could, but that she needed more seemed to be the turning point.
(I think the ghost characters are really reflections of those who see them on this show, and not necessarily independent ghosts in a horror/sci-fi sense.)
Amazing show. nuff said :)

The difference is that the angry Nate was a projection of her conscious, awake mind, and the loving Nate came to her in her dreams.
