Seems like alot of people get offended easy and take things personally. God forbid you point out when someone is incorrect. Heck, I thank people when they show me I am wrong and I learn something new. The hostility in GD is getting such that I visit there less and less.

1. DU has rules against offensive posts.
Engaging in political discourse and debating an issue in a respectable fashion are allowed. Personal attacks are not. If DUers are openly hostile, use the alert button and us mods will take care of it. Don't retaliate, and don't start threads about being mad at other DUers.

Thank you, and the rules are here:

2. Alerting feels like narcing or crying to mommy. Hate that...
Never started a thread about being mad at anyone myself.

3. Yeah but the alternative is all-out flame war
which for a pleasant chat forum does not make.

5. It's really better to hit alert and let mods handle things
rather than just bitching about posters who get angry in GD...particularly when another poster steps in and tells them they are "wrong."

know what I mean? ;) Betcha do.

13. I hit alert today for the first time
I've never been keen to use it just because I don't like what a person likes - this was for outright blatent anti-semitism from an obvious troll though.

Still felt a bit wierd.

8. I agree, that is why I do not alert. The posts just do not bother me.

9. "mad"...no, i do however resist the urge to play with them...
like a bug in a bell jar, that's my contribution to civility over in gd would that it were so others in gd could see their way to do likewise.

10. Oh, Hell yeah!!
I get furious at anyone who dares to disagree with me!!!

I calm down quickly, though. Usually.

12. I try not to, but sometimes it can be hard.
But we have to remember that we all have differences. Other people may feel as strongly about something as I do something else. But if it is an all out offensive post, then I guess you can just hit alert.
