1. I do!
That clip doesn't have the credit for Ron Glass tho.

3. THAT'S where I remember him from!
boy, it's been a LONG time since I saw Barney Miller.

Ron Glass was in the Firefly TV series, which didn't last long (due to Fox's mismanagement) - it has a large fan-base led to the series being made into a movie, Serenity, due to open in September. Glass will be in that, too.

2. Loved Barney Miller!
One of the best 70's sitcoms, imo.

4. Wasn't Barney Miller
one of the few comedy shows filmed WITHOUT a laugh track?

6. Then again...
...you could also say that the show was so bad that it couldn't get a laugh from a laugh track.

(I've never seen the show. :) )

9. M*A*S*H
being another. In the UK anyway when the BBC showed it originally. It's now being repeated on Paramount Comedy with a laughter track. Totally ruined it IMO. Barney Miller was the first US sutcom I ever watched - it used to be on air really late at night.

8. Tried watching this weekend...
Got the season 1 DVDs from the library, and watched the first two... they were really pretty painful. The pilot seemed to be trying to establish it as a "married couple" sitcom, instead of being almost entirely at the police station. Maybe I'll watch a few of the later ones to see if they hit their stride. Or maybe I just romanticized it since I was just a dopey kid when I was watching first time around.

10. The later episodes were much better,
when it dealt mainly with the police station and all the goings on there. I thought it was very witty and hilarious.

11. Dennis Farina (sp?) said he thought it was one of the more realistic cop
shows. He's an ex-cop.

12. I liked it.
My mother liked that show too, which is saying something. I can name less than half a dozen television shows my mother has ever made a point to watch.
