progmom's jaded, cantankerous tip of the day:
If you're going to try to bribe me with a bottle of champagne, do go for the good stuff. A crappy $10 bottle just makes me think you're not serious. :)

i can't imagine drinking it.

9. there is a sparkling wine
which has been made by Benedictine monks for over a hundred years longer than Champagne was ever first brewed.

They are located just outside of the Champagne district.

There's something about drinking pseudo Champagne, brewed by a bunch of guys who took a vow of poverty outside the realm that is totally wondrous.

It's called Saint Hillaire and costs about 10-15 bucks and is comparable to 40- 60 dollar bottles.

Check it out for your next celebratory function.

It's wonderful.

28. yeah it's Saint Hillaire
but I may have the "a" & "i" reversed. It's really quite exquisite.

Don't have any bottles handy to reference the exact spelling.

Has a very light mustard colored label but I swear is as good as the higher priced stuff. Consider checking it out.

It's a steal.

37. All depends on the champagne - what kind is it?
Is it champagne or sparkling wine? Or perhaps a prosecco?

If it's Asti, then it's automatically out as a gift, of course. That's just fucking tacky and rude. But I've had some wonderful, good sparkling wines and proseccos for less than $10.

We can get Mumm on sale for that sometimes (stress the SOME.) It would take a lot more than that for you to buy a copy of my CD, though in the ancient past my sister "accidentally" sent a cassette of me singing "June is Busting Out All Over" to some friends up North (she claims she thought it was a CD of something else.)
