From now on, pronounce words exactly as they are spelled.
Even if it means saying someone's name wrong. There is a car dealership in my state called "Knipplemier Chevrolet." They pronounce it Kuh-nipplemier. I say no. It reads like "Nipplemier."

I'm through fooling around with erroneous pronunciations. Won't you join me?

Oh yeah, and from now on "Waco" is pronounced like "taco."

2. I once lived in Taneytown, MD. It's pronounced Tawnytown.
I lived there for about a year, and I always read it in my mind phonetically as Taineytown, even though I would pronounce it the correct way.

3. I lived near Taneytown...
and that used to drive me crazy. I lived near a town in Virginia, too, named Staunton and it had the same problem in reverse. First syllable rhymes with "ant".

(I lived in Westminster, btw.)

6. I've lived in Westminster, too.
Carroll County is red (or was when I lived there) but it's beautiful. I had an apartment on Main St. I moved there from Taneytown :) I really miss that apartment in Taneytown. It was in a big building that was over 200 years old. It was a huge two bedroom with very high ceilings and gigantic, arched windows. Absolutely gorgeous. And it was only 400 bucks a month.

8. I lived in an apartment on Main Street, too!
Near the post office. It was a one bedroom with very high ceilings, something like 15', and had big arched windows and french doors that went out onto a balcony. This was in the early 90's.

My folks still live in Westminster and it's still red. They voted for Kerry, though, thank God.

We probably partied together at some point. I used to go to Champs, a lot, so I could walk home. There used to be a whole bunch of twenty and thirty-somethings living on Main Street, Green Street and Willis Avenue that always walked to the bars. Snow days were great for that.

:) Definitely a bigger scene that Taneytown, that's for sure. I haven't been there since I moved; I bet it's changed a lot.

14. You wouldn't believe how much it's changed.
I lived there for most of my life but moved to the Eastern Shore 10 years ago. I was visiting my parents last year around Christmas and went into town to go Christmas shopping and got lost! In Westminster, lol! Route 140 is so built up with Olive Gardens and Target stores, I get disoriented.

I can remember the big deal when Popeyes came to town. And WalMart was the only box store around.
