Whatever happened to Charlie the Smarmy Tuna? |
|
Who could never quite make it to the popular tuna camp *chicken of the sea*... You know the ones - those that ended up as tuna salad.
Where is ole Charlie, today?

21. I think the main problem was Starkist wanted tuna that tastes good |
|
not tuna with good taste.

23. He now lives in the Gertie the Dinosaur Retirement Home ... |
|
... for Hollywood Cartoons, along with caricatures like his other animated Rat Pack pal Top Cat, the Incredible Mr. Limpet, D. Michael "Mickey" Mouse (laryngectomy done in 1997; he had been a heavy smoker most of his life), Elizabeth "Betty" Boop, Astro-Boy (now suffering from radiation-induced dementia from growing up in Hiroshima and surviving the atomic explosion as a baby), Allison "Skeezix" Wallet and his wife Nina (each still in fairly good health except for Skeezix' diabetes and diabetic retinopathy induced blindness, and Nina being unable to walk due to several degenerated lumbar discs), Bluto Sagendorf (pals Popeye and Olive O. Segar are at the U.S. Navy Home for Retired Animated Sailors), and 103-year-old Buster Brown (now, sadly, suffering profound dementia from Alzheimer's Disease).
Those are who I've kept up with, anyway.
