My poor dog has something wrong with his bottom. He didn't sit or lie down all night long last night, he just sort of stood and stared. I took him out for walkies at midnight and 2:30, he was walking fine, he pooped fine, he had a great appetite and no other problems, he just wouldn't sit or lie down. I finally called the emergency veterinary hospital at 3, and their vet told me it was most likely his anal glands, and that when he got tired, he would find a way to lie down and sleep.
Nope, it never happened. I ended up on the couch of our library with him draped across my lap so his little legs could relax. He's a 70 pound dog, so this was no fun. I just dropped him off at the vet today, hopefully they'll be able to fix him up with a minimum of pain and expense.

She is dragging her butt on the carpet trying to relieve the irritation. Poor little thing.
Thankfully, she only weighs 13 pounds.

Hope he feels better soon! Those anal glands can cause some awful problems. One of our neighbors just went through it with her dog..he had to be on antibiotics and get sitz baths.

4. I read the first sentence and thought "anal glands" ... lol |

all it takes is a bit of massage and he'll be relieved. Shouldn't cost a lot either.
A groomer can do this for you a couple times a year included in a bath. Just ask if they can "express the anal glands" with the grooming.
