90 Year Old Couple Win $7.5 Million Lottery
<snip>

A beaming Brockville, Ont., couple, who are both almost 90, have entered Canada's millionaire club after cashing in their Lotto/49 ticket from the Aug. 6 draw.

Victor and Thelma Hayes were still in disbelief yesterday but all smiles as they collected their oversized cheque for $7.5-million.

They have been married for 63 years and both turn 90 in a few weeks.

"We haven't fought yet," Mr. Hayes joked.

He has been playing the same numbers for years and won a $1,000 prize once and other free draws. But this time, Mr. Hayes bought a quick pick and hit the jackpot.

Mr. Hayes spent 26 years working for the Ontario government.

They live in a retirement home and have no plans to move.

As for the money, other than some car shopping, Mr. and Mrs. Hayes aren't sure how they'll spend it.

"We plan on helping out our kids and maybe buy a Lincoln. :eyes: I've never had one," Mr. Hayes said.

1. I'm happy for them, really.
But I hope he doesn't buy that deathtrap on wheels. No offense to the elderly intended, but driving one of those at 90? :scared:

6. Deathtrap on wheels?
I beg to differ. I was hit head on (combined speeds of 80mph)in a '93 Lincoln Town Car. I survived with minor knee injuries. Airbag and seatbelt. The other driver (Chevy S-10 pickup, fell asleep)was not so lucky. Broken sternum, leg and collarbone, closed head injury. No seatbelt, bounced off airbag and was trapped under dash. I drive a Mercury Sable now , mileage is better. Can't wait to get a hybrid. At 90, if they do get a Lincoln, I hope they hire a driver!

that she thought she would like to buy a new pair of NYLONS. I nearly cried. Sheesh I would have bought her a new pair if I'd only known. Makes me wonder how many older citizens just don't have the cash for basics. Good for them :party:

Edit: clarity
