I'm going to the Bronx zoo with a catholic priest and methodist minister |
|
tomorrow. The priest is a Nigerian from Nigeria, the methodist is Japanese and from Japan. And I'm Congregational, a German born and raised in America!
Wish me luck and pray that no theological war starts or an animal might get hurt!

4. Yes, it does! But it's true... |
|
Unfortunately, our Jewish clergy friend is working tomorrow, as is the Korean Presbyterian minister and the nun from Pennsylvania.
Aye, I have a weird sort of circle of friends.

Seems rather offensive from a few directions. Though if not, please let me know. Mostly, I just don't get it, so I'm not even sure if I shuold be offended or laughing.

the japanese guy thought they were going to the Jew , not the Zoo, and since protestants formed the KKK- he had his KKK hood.
Get it?

still not really funny, but also no offense taken. It's clever, but, you know, a joke just doesn't work after it's been explained.

Our parish is an ethnic mixture of German, Irish and Mexicans, with a handful of 'other' ethnicities thrown in; our rector is Chinese (a refugee), our curate is from El Salvador and our Bishop is an African-American. Where else would a Confirmation Sunday look like a UN General Assembly meeting, but in America? :)

24. We're back, and it went well! |
|
Had a beautiful day - there wqas occasional very slight rain, but otherwise, a decent enough warm tempertature that it wasn't cold, but cold enogh to keep us from overheaeting in our overcoats and sweaters.
This is a great time for the zoo - not a lot of people there! No large crowd jostling, etc.
The Congo is great - I missed when I went there before, so we spent some decent time there today. Many gorillas sitting right up along the windows holding their babies. Lots of great pictures! I'll post some in a while.
And best of all - no theological wars! In fact, no discussion of church matters at all; it was totally a day of fun and not thinking about the hospital or the church or theology, except to be awed by the incredible amount of variety and sheer beauty in nature.
