turn on CSPAN and watch history.... |

Harry Reid is coming up on 8 hours of his own filibuster to protest the 30 hour bitch-fest on judicial nominees scheduled for later this week.
I'm posting it here for those of you who fear to venture into GD. It's hysterical - he's reading an ENTIRE book that he wrote.

he's up to chapter 6, I think.
He's stopping periodically to make long digressions and to take some "relief" questions from Carl Levin or Dick Durbin. Give him a chance to stop talking for a minute or two.

10. If he lasts 24 hours and some-odd minutes... |
|
...If he beats Strom's time of 24:whatever, will he set the record?
He has taken breaks.
Oh, and why is the Senate in a 30-hour session?

I doubt he'll make 24 hours... or even try to.
He's protesting the tactics of the majority. They've scheduled 30 straight hours later this week for judicial nominations. they're hoping they can break the Democrats and slip a floor vote through on the filibustered judges.
In protest of that tactic, Reid is doing his own filibuster. the real old-fashioned kind. It's very impressive.

It's like "Book Notes" and the legislative process all in one.
What's his book about -- coal mining it seems? Is this his subtle way of giving "the shaft" to the Republicans?

Monday Night Football. LOL! Hard to believe a Senator reading a book aloud can compete with my Packers.

Thanks for the heads up - I flipped through earlier and wondered why he was making such a boring speech with so many numbers. Now I get it. Have to send him a think you note - that takes really heart!
