Got this from Google Images when searching for "sailors." The page that had this image is gone but the image itself remains.

Could be WWII, perhaps.

A: A submarine.

Once, while I was in the Marines, we had a Navy Corpsman (medic in normal language) who had the last name 'Samples', hence with rank and name he was known officially as 'Seaman Samples'. Oh, how we laughed over this; the First Sergeant, a genuine stone face, once even cracked a smile in formation when calling out his name.
