This day is nicknamed "Feast of the Dead" because, on this day, Wiccans remember loved ones and ancestors who have passed on.

Also considered the Wiccan New Year, this is the time of year that Wiccans reflect on the past year and look to the future. We realize that all of us must allow death to be a part of our lives on this day, whether that death be of a physical nature, a specific train of thought, or even an emotion that needs to be put to rest. We all go through death and rebirth every year of our lives....its called change. On this day, we celebrate and rejoice in the changes in our lives, and try to put forth those changes (or "deaths") in a positive manner.

Some traditions on this day include: leaving a plate of food outside at night for the souls of the dead, burying apples in the earth to feed those who have passed on in their journey, and/or placing a candle in the window to guide the souls of those passed on to the lands of eternal summer.
