:donut: I hope all you Nighthawks are doing OK today! I'm doing fine, myself. I'm going to be spending a few days in Jacksonville starting today, so I'll be away from DU until Sunday sometime. :( But until then, I'm here with all friends! Anything exciting happen overnight?

But I have been totally unable to concentrate on work all day - it just has not been happening - I've just put on some music to aid concentration.
Hopefully things will be better after lunch.
But the sun is shining, and I'm in a good mood. :hi:

9. I'm in a shared office |

So no music here normally - I have stuff on all the time at home though. I have ear-phones which come out when I'm in a really really bad mood, or when I need to concentrate (as now).
What music do you tend to go for?
Make some nice strong black road-taresque coffee - and drink lots of water on the side. That's my recipe for waking.

13. I'm a definite classical bod |
|
I've got a couple of jazz C.Ds - but that's all else.
It tends not to be mainstream classical either - the only stuff from the 19th century that I particularly like are Wagner and some of the ultra-naff trashy Victoriana (when I'm in a slightly odd mood). Early music, and 20th century are my main areas.

Goodmorning to you. I am sorta shy about starting a thread, Newbie and all... http://postsecret.blogspot.com/ 2nd postsecret down needs to be brought to the groups attention, if someone wouldn't mind. This one:

Welcome to DU! :hi: Don't feel shy about starting a thread. Especially here in the Lounge! About your picture...I'm trying to make sense of it. It's awful!

10. It's from Post Secrets... |
|
The site is sorta self explanatory
People send in their secrets on postcards and they get posted every Sunday.
This one seems to have come from an Iraq vet who has come back with pretty serious mental afflictions! Nice that Bush is able to get on with HIS life :sarcasm:

14. Welcome to DU Lenore! |

And that postcard you posted is very disturbing. That jagoff Chimpy and his horrid war is making some very messed up people. Worst of all, these poor souls come home to little or no services to help them with the PTSD, depression and other afflictions they suffer from the war of lies our "great leader" sent them off to fight in.
May he rot in the hell he so ardently believes in.

16. Hi there you all, from another early morning yawner |
|
and another nightowl, though I did just wake up and walk the dogs after a three-hour "nap."
I thought I'd drop in and check out the DU Lounge instead of going right to bookmarked threads today. :hi: Partly because I wanted to see what ya'll do here in the early a.m.'s and partly because I thought you might be able to suggest where would be a good place to post some song lyrics.
It's an original song, a protest song, actually. The words had been bumping around in my head for several days, but yesterday an epiphany while walking my two dogs kicked the creative juices into high gear; and then hearing Joan Baez singing at Camp Casey last night -- and hearing Cindy's wonderful, personal musings on her memories of Casey as a little boy -- had me typing up completed lyrics as fast as my fingers could go. That's when ya know you've got a "real" song, when it flows out of you so fast, like a guiding spirit is writing it through you.
I'm sure any songwriters here know that, but thought I'd describe the process as it happens with me.
So I don't want to just barge in and change the subject here in ya'll's lounge or anything, but when I saw the talk of MUSIC, this seemed an ideal place to seek suggestions on posting lyrics to my new song. Since I'm still fairly new here at DU myself, I'm a bit hesitant about starting new threads, too. Artists are notoriously sensitive about putting their new works "out there" for everyone to see and hear, so I'm hoping I can do this right. And THAT's the exciting thing happening here. :)
Any ideas, gang?
THANKS!
~VV (which is shorthand for "Vicki Victoria," a nick some friends gave me in a group a few years ago)
