|
in fact - i made my parents delay our departure to Holland by a week so i could go to all-county chorus. ;)
ha ha - and i had totally forgotten this...i was sick as a dog during the all-county try-outs. i had a fever of 103, but i wasn't going to let anything stop me. three of us tried out together, singing Dona Nobis Pacem.

That reminds me of the time... I was in the all-Region band, and was about to try out for the all-State band, when the cap on my front tooth came off (I had broken the tooth when I was 12). This happened the day before the competition, and I had to have it replaced in the morning. Of COURSE, my lips were still numb, but I was stubborn and actually played the audition. A few notes and I was dead, my lips completely numb... couldn't buzz my lips at all. It was awful. :(
(Edited to add... I was playing the trumpet.)

having been an absolute social misfit in HS just barely enduring it myself... I wasn't in it for that. For me it was very simply about the music. It was really all I had then.

my small school didn't have a chorus, not that I would have tried out if they did. I wouldn't have been allowed to sing, and I wouldn't want to make people suffer through my singing.

|
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 11:31 AM by tigereye
State choral competition and lots of field trips. Church choir and all that that entailed. Piano lessons and recitals and all that that entailed. Being a high school dramat and all that that entailed. 15 years in a punk/ post punk band and all that that entailed.
But I bet my list of hs activities was longer than yours! And no swirlies, ugh. Think that's a guy thing. I was a giant nerd though, and I did get my revenge. ;)

56. Let's see, I was in junior high and high school chorus (all girls), |
|
trio, triple trio, I competed as a soloist in contests as well. I was also in HS jazz band one year. I went to Europe the summer after I graduated with 300 other high school students on a choir and orchestra trip.
In college I was in the mixed chorus, women's chorus, and sang in the Madrigal concert we did every year. We also did an Opera Gala, and I was in concert band one year. I wanted to be in marching band, but my voice teacher absolutely refused to let me.
Then I was a music theatre major in grad school. I didn't sing in any groups, but I was a lot of productions in and off campus.
So, year, I'm a great big geek, I guess. Funny thing is, I don't do any of that any more.
