I took this photo about 5 minutes ago. This is in my home office, directly to the left of my computer. To the right of this is another Vornado fan. My cat, Seiko. positions herself between the two and keeps an eye on me while I work. She often stretches out with one paw resting on the fan..."This is MY fan"...

4. I like to call my office "The Swamp"...

I've lived here since March 2005. If I sign another one year lease when this one is finished, I'm getting a portable AC. It's just like working in a sauna, and fans just push the hot air around in the late afternoon.

I actually have a THIRD Vornado to the right of the SECOND one, and a Convair swamp cooler directly behind me.

But for the benefit of the other folks reading this, I DO shower...regularly.

That reminds me of an Ann Landers column. Some lady was complaining because her husband never bathed. She said, "I, myself, shower regulary...twice a week." How would you like to be a guest at that house for dinner?

8. Here's a true story from one of my former companies...

...we hired a temp, who showed up unwashed and drunk as a skunk. Long, stringy hair, railroad cap, thick glasses, scraggly beard and clothes that looked like he found them behind a dumpster.

Before anyone asks, our procedure was to call the temp agency and request help...we never actually saw people in advance until they showed up for work. If we had an EXTENDED assignment in mind we would do interviews, but for fill-in help, we placed the phone call and saw the person for the first time when they reported for work.

He punched his time card, worked for about a half hour, went into the break room, sat down with his brown paper lunch bag, and proceeded to start peeling hard boiled eggs.

My supervisor walked in, cleared his throat, and said "What are you DOING?" He peeled the egg for a few seconds, looked up, and said "Having lunch"...So the supervisor took a deep breath and said "I'm going to have to send you home...you STINK! People are complaining! They don't want to work with you!" He replied "OK," and kept peeling his egg. The supervisor waited a few seconds and said "Errr...now."

So once again, with my reputation on the line (assuming I have a reputation on DU), "regularly"...when used in reference to B_E_B's hygiene regimen...means "daily."

Orange is a neutral gene (neither dominant nor recessive) so a female cat needs to inherit the orange gene from both parents.
