It's SO hard to deal with dimwits. |
|
I'm on the board of directors of our property owners' association. One of our members doesn't like the looks of a house that's going up in our neighborhood. It will look like a converted barn when completed. It's huge. Maybe 5000 sq. ft. I agree, it's a behemoth, and really out of place in a waterfront community.
But...it complies with our restrictive (not very) covenants and the town zoning regulations.
I get an e-mail from this twit all about "what the rules SHOULD say, blah, blah, blah."
Well, I kindly explained that I have absolutely no control about what the rules SHOULD say. I can only enforce what the rules DO say. And the builder is in compliance with each and every one.
"Well", he says, "We need to change the rules." Fine. Have at it. Draw up a petition. But it won't matter for this project. Jeez.

there's always one that thinks he knows better than everyone else. There's only two things you can do with such turkeys and most of them ain't worth the cost of a bullet.

3. OK, here's one of his e-mails: |

DON, DO WE NOT HAVE ANY KIND OF REQUIREMENTS OF ELEVATION VIEW TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD ? IF NOT COULD WE JUST ADD A ADDEMUM TO THE COVENANTS OR ADD TO A EXISTING COVENANT TO HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT IS GETTING WORSE ALL THE TIME NOW THAT THE HURRICANES HAVE CHOSEN THIER VICTIMS, AND WHATS BEING REPLACED IS A FAR CRY FROM WHAT BAY FOREST ESTATES HAD IN MIND ( MAYBE WE SHOULD RENAME THE SUB-DIVISION "BAY FOREST FARMS". THIS IS GOING TO HURT THE VALUES OF OUR PROPERTIES THAT JUST HAD A SURGE IN VALUE AND COULD KEEP RISING. PLEASE RESPOND, XXXXXX & XXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX

we're involved in the renovation of our local swim club, and the design committee has had open meetings for a year & a half, inviting any & all with a stake to come & hear what is being considered.
the design committee is a good array of professionals; realtors, developers, architects, a tenured landscape architecture professor. to pay for the service the pool is getting for free from these members would be in the several hundred thousand dollar range.
monday night was the presentation to the members, and the hostility was so great that the design committee was stunned. the diving contingent hates the water polo contingent, the parents of small children hate the swim team parents, and everyone hates the board for spending their money. grumbling, murmuring, "yeah, right"s, etc.
the design committee's response is: where the hell have you been for the last year & a half?

It's worse than pulling teeth to get people to serve on our board. This is my third term in 12 years. I said "OK, I'll do it again." And will this asshole serve? Nooooo "I don't have time for that shit." unquote.

Sometimes novelty houses if done right can add a little property value. Who knows? Sorry the guy's picking on you.

8. It will be a $2,000,000 showplace, minimum. |

Doors from a Spanish cathedral. Bar from an old Chicago hotel. It has been disassembled and rebuilt twice. When last assembled it was featured in Architectural Digest.
Having said that, it really will stick out like a sore thumb. The owner has a LOT more money than taste. Mega.

That's their first trademark: houses that are WAY too fucking big, and I'll bet you $100 that EVERY appliance in the kitchen is stainless steel. And that they never use said appliances.
