Battering the Keys right now. It has been a loooong night.
Boat has been bouncing all night and my biminis are ripped off. Daylight will not be pretty.
Hope all our South Florida DUers fared well.

1. In my mind, something is very wrong with 4 people dying from this one |
|
It was only a Category ONE, for Pete's sake. And while I know that is still a powerful storm, I just can't see any reason why anyone at all would have had to die. Were they people near the coast who couldn't properly evacuate, or what? :(

2. People in cars hit by falling trees. |
|
The winds were stronger than anticipated and the flooding was so bad that it weakened the trees, making for a very dangerous situation. Also very slow moving. This has been on top of us now for six hours with 100 mph wind gusts. Also several hurricanes and water spouts.
A category one can be deadly given these situations. It toppled a highway overpass in Miami and in Ft. Lauderdale it toppled an eighteen wheeler on an overpass, so you can imagine how strong the winds really are.
