8. Charlie Brown
I identified very strongly with him growing up: nothing I did worked out, I was awful, if very enthusiastic at sports, school was a nightmare, and of course I was the regular object of ridicule by my peers. During that time it was nice to know at least somebody - even a fictional somebody knew what it felt like.

11. Three of them ... Charlie, Lucy, Sally
I have 3 kids - boy, girl, girl and when they were around 6,7 & 8 (yes they were very close together) I bought them each a rug hook kit and got Charlie for my son, Lucy for my dark haired middle daughter and Sally for my blonde, youngest daughter.

They hooked the rugs during the winter school vacation and I still have them to this day!

My peanuts! :grouphug:

13. I shoved him off my poll in favor of Sally
This could be construed as a white-supremacist poll, as Franklin is missing too.

15. Franklin was the token black guy.
Like on South Park, the only black person besides Chef is the little black boy, Token. And on Not Another Teen Movie, the black (don't know the actor's name) guy makes the only other black guy at the party leave b/c he is supposed to be the "token" black guy!

20. So does Boondocks have token whites?
It is hard to have too much of a mix when there are only half a dozen main characters. Wasn't WWII cat a favorite even though he was never shown? Characters came and went. I cannot even remember that one dude's name. Then there was 5, and Violet and the girl with naturally curly hair. Was the kite-eating tree a character? You know you are diverse when trees are characters. No adults though, unless you count the wa wa mutes.

27. Franklin was introduced in the late sixties, during segregation fights
So he had a little more relevance as a non-white character in the funny pages at that time.
