my local target is trying to pull some kind of scam...
this is very important: i went there the other day to buy some candy for my co-workers (actually for myself). i usually get peanut m&ms. the medium bag is 14 oz and is priced $2.19. but i saw they had a "10% more fee" bag and decided to get some of them. but then i saw the price on the shelf $2.59. wtf??!! it is supposed to be 10% more FREE not 40 cents. so i was feeling pissy and went to customer service. the woman behind the counter was clueless to what i was telling her "See this bag is 14oz for $2.19. this bag is 10% more FREE for $2.59. it doesn't make sense. yes the bag you are selling for $2.59 is 10% more of the $2.19 bag. 14 oz x 10% = 1.4 oz and the bigger bag is 15.4 oz (14 + 1.4 = 15.4)." so she finally calls a manager and tells me to explain it because she doesn't understand. i explain it all again and the manager seems to understand. i go back this morning: 14oz for $2.19 and 15.4oz for $2.59.

i know it isn't much but it is the point dammit.

4. Sadly, I now partially understand why corporate creeps offshore...
Their reason/excuse isn't entirely unwarranted...

Not that their actions are justified; they pollute us with crap tv and crap music on crap ipods whose crap batteries crap the environment despite a purported environmentalist on Apple's executive board (sheesh)... kiddies of today are having too much fun with the cell phones and the credit cards. It's the hip thing, dude. Peer pressure.

And yet I still can't blame the kids when comparing them to our corporate sect, who have the power and are therefore RESPONSIBLE for what they put out to consumers. They made the problem of a high standard of living, the lure of credit cards (and it's far worse today than ever...) AND distraction from learning/socializing in favor of portable isolationist devices that those who don't have will go to lengths to have (stealing, et al).

5. They really want to see how stupid we are.
No really. I'm not suprised.
On that note; I started a price book yesterday. Have you tried it?

6. Well, if you're REALLY outraged by this

contact corporate and complain.

And maybe the FTC.

7. i'm not outraged so much as really annoyed.
if i want the correct price on the bigger bag i have to go into a big explanation and piss off everyone in line behind me.

it ticks me off that they are that stupid or think i am.

8. Grocery Stores do this all of the time
especially Brookshires in Texas.

Specials: "Get 2 for $6.00", when only one will cost $2.89

I can't get any of the managers to explain how I am saving with their "specials".

9. Target has those scanning stations which allow you to verify prices
if it looks too good to be true, scan it.

If the price matches, then take it.
