(How) should I contact this woman?

We've been friends for many years. SHe recently ended a long relationship, and I find her very attractive. About three weeks ago I phoned, asked her if she wanted to go get a beer, and was told I was coming on a little too strong.

So now it's been three weeks and I'd like to speak to her again, but want to give her as much space as she feels she needs. Whadya think? Phone call to just chat? E-mail? Letter? Sit tight?

If she said you were coming on strong, take what she is saying and go with that. Email is relatively benign and she can respond when and if she wants to.

...and she said you were coming on too strong, she's not ever going to be interested

that was supposed to be yr little hint to get lost permanently

if she just wasn't ready to date anyone, she would have said something more polite like, the ever-popular, i'm not ready
