2. Ween never took Zoloft

I was one of the "pre-marketing biosurveillance cohort".

The stuff cranked my blood pressure up, ruined my stomach while increasing my weight at the same time, destroyed my libido, and induced enough ADHD to stun a herd of Hollywood Scientologists.

How the hell did the SSRIs make it through Peer Review™, let alone the FDA?

3. Wet towel alert

Antidepressants do not act on the brain in the way suggested by that (song?). They are not narcotics, benzodiazepines or stimulants. It is one of my pet peeves when people think they (or others) are going to pop a Prozac and "get high" or be in la-la land to the point that nothing will bother them. This is not Valium here.

Case in point: An old coworker was relating how her teenage sons had trashed the house and she was ready to scream her head off at them, but "then my Paxil kicked in and I felt so much better".

Thanks for that, B. I get so tired of misconceptions surrounding the SSRI group of anti-depressants, specifically. The other annoying thing people sometimes say about Zoloft is that they think it's "addictive" and/or "habit forming." Whatever.

(For the posters who didn't have the best medication experiences or find that Zoloft was anything other than horrible for them--don't flame me, okay? I respect your right to accurately understand what the meds did to you, to not be comfortable with that, or hate it, and manage your depression and other issues however you and your doctors see fit. I just hate it when people claim Zoloft is addictive.)

4. Yay Ween!

A few years ago the guitar player Dean admitted on the Ween usenet group that he suffered from panic attacks before going on stage. He said that the worst one was before they played at Bonnaroo in 2002. I always thought this song might be about him.

What a great group of guys though! I got to meet them before a show in Orlando in 1998. I was wearing a Jerry Garcia t-shirt and their singer complimented me about it. Later that night they busted out a perfect version of 'Friend Of The Devil' I was just blown away! Some people will call them a punk band but there is no way to label these guys.

It is great to see they are back on the road. I can't wait to see them again!
