5. Beautiful pictures and lovely scenes
My husband and I took a trip to Northern California in December and it rained on us all the way there, all the time we were there and all the way back home (to SoCal). :D

That part of Northern California is really beautiful.

I'm guessing the lake is the Nicasio Reservoir near Point Reyes.

12. Why don't you show the real San Francisco.
The seamy, filthy part where my son was beaten, robbed and left to die. He's still in a wheelchair almost a year later and the city won't do a damn thing because the people responsible are mob connected untouchables. San Francisco is a sewer as filthy as any big city in the country.

20. I'm sorry that this happened to your family, FightingIrish.
My brother was mugged in San Francisco. Luckily, he escaped it physically unscathed.

It is my favorite city in the US, but, as you said, it has all of the problems of any other city. It's easy to romanticize it because it is such a pretty city. I've felt safe when I've been there, but there is definitely a bad side to it as well.

21. Thank you for your concern
I lived in the Bay Area when I was in the Navy 30 years ago. I loved the city and felt very safe there. The three weeks we spent stranded there while they were trying to put our son back together was a nightmare. I have never felt less safe in any city in America. We met a lot of other families who kids were the victims of violent crimes. Maybe it's just George Bush's cowboy America, but it was not the San Francisco I once loved.

23. Haight Street has become a goddam nightmare
Methamphetamine and heroin are the drugs of choice on the street. It has become a dangerous place to go, especially at night.

I'm sorry about what happened.

24. FightingIrish, i am sorry as to what all has happened...
to your son & you are right; san francisco 2005, can be a very dicey environment within which to circulate. seems we've lost or squandered vast tracts of what used to be our innocence. hubby keeps telling me that he'll take me to Bend, OR, one day; but when i ask him what it is like there, in amidst the recollections of the sumptuous beauty of the landscape itself; he has stories of 'country justice' & other oddities brought about by similar means if while absent 'mob ties'.

there is little doubt, friend...america, she has altered her ways & means.

here's wishing you & yours all the best

bridgit

15. San Francisco is One of My Favorite Places
I loved living near there and the hills across the Golden Gate Bridge above the old Army Fort were my place to go and meditate on life. You can see back SF, back over to Oakland and out to the great Pacific.

Thanks for the pics Will and I hope you had a wonderful time.
