If businesses are supposed to take losses, |
|
how come insurance and oil companies find ways to bypass these laws of business?

I know that many insurance companies have taken losses in recent years. The past few years have been great for most insurance companies, especially health insurers. But, it wasn't long ago that Aetna had over $1 billion in net losses & Cigna had huge problems. I know Travelers (now St. Paul Travelers) has had their problems the past 10-15 years) All America, a pretty good sized one in nearby Worcester nearly went out of business...
It's all cyclical, but having Bush in the White House has been a help to Big Oil & Big Pharma, especially, with Big Insurance making out with the new Medicare bill, but not as well as Big Pharma.
