Hurricane and its ironic aftermath |
|
My thoughts about those who are wingnuts and in the path of Hurricane Katrina.
As I watch the unfolding events that the residents of New Orleans and surrounding areas face, I can't help but to reflect upon the misguided mind-set of the freepers who stand to suffer much property damage and loss.
Besides having the normal concern that anybody would have for people who face such events. I also can't help but to wonder how many of these freepers in the aftermath that this hurricane will leave will stay true to their non-compassionate doctrine of every man for himself? Stay true to their knuckle dragging doctrine of the law of the jungle (only the strong survive). Stay true to their misguided doctrine of no leaching off of other people's hard earned money (welfare). Or will they suddenly, and hypocritically, completely forget all their vile garbage and stick their hands-out looking for other's people hard earned money to bail them out?

1. I think this is pretty inappropriate. |
|
People of all stripes are in life-threatening danger and we shouldn't put any kind of political discussion above their safety. Seriously.

It is not meant to be offending. It is to hopefully bring some ironic realization to those freeper lurkers the error of their non-compassionate ways.

And I don't care their political affiliation. I just want them to be safe. I agree. Totally inappropriate. Duckie

11. Maybe, but they might realize how two-faced their "values" are... |
|
OTOH they might take the money and run, like any good corporation would do.
I think his post is valid.

2. Phooey, they'll be lining up ten deep for disaster aid and a hand out. |
|
It's always different when it becomes 'personal'. It's justifiable as well. At least, in their minds.

5. Guess you have never been through a natural disaster in the South. |
|
Everyone helps everyone... People here may bash churches but they are extremely helpful after disasters. Amazing how some on DU want to politicize every little thing.

8. I am sorry you feel that way SouthernDem2004 |
|
But I look at this from the perspective of growing-up with having to rely upon welfare on a couple of occasions. My parents always worked hard to support the family, but due to lay-offs and such, they had to rely on welfare a couple of times. And I still to this day vividly remember the heartless ridicule directed at myself and my brothers and sister by freeper kids. And I know that there is no way other than from their parents, that they would have known and formed the attitudes that they did.
So maybe if you had ever been through what I did as a child, maybe you would understand better. But anyway again, I am sorry that you feel the way you do about my post, and again, it is not meant to be offending.

How is it inconsiderate to simply agree to disagree with someone instead of aggravating them further?
I don't know, I might be incorrect, but it seems to me that aggravating someone further would be inconsiderate.

For misunderstanding you -- My bad.
BTW, I see you live in Manhattan Beach, a place I spent many of my teen days. Along the strand there in Hermosa and Manhattan beaches :)
I myself live in the southshore area of San Pedro, and isn't it HOT (and nice) these last few days?.. :)

Anyway, I hope you have a nice day CaliforniaPeggy and see you around sweetie..

Here in the Bay Area, it's been beautiful the last couple of days. Strange this year though - lots of rain late in the season, then some rather cold stuff not long ago (cold enough so I had my car heater on going to work - in August!). Now it's loverly though and I was enjoying my vodka on the deck until the computer's siren song called me back in. :hi:

So you really did get some vodka? Was it with cranberry juice? How funny!
Isn't it something when our fantasies can become realities?
It can be sooo much fun, IMHO....
I have trouble staying away from my computer as well...But pretty soon I have to stop posting, and do some laundry, and shop for dinner...
I DO like to eat!
See ya later, skygazer...Enjoy your evening...and your vodka...
