Just read about little "Tuffy", abused little dog
Humane society near me found her tied to a tree..AFTER she had been hit by a car, multiple puncture wounds, broken pelvis, broken leg..owners are being prosecuted..shes been rushed to the vet, and is at the shelter now. Im thinking of adopting her, but she has a terrible fear of other dogs ..shes a little girl, just a cockapoo mix, and I have a little dog who would be very sweet to her. Think she can , with enough love, be helped not to be afraid? Shes been terribly abused. Its breaking my heart to think she was treated like this.

1. Sons of bitches.
I'm glad I gave up on pacifism. Because now I can daydream about beating the shit out of these fucks without feeling guilty.

3. I hope there is a special hell reserved...

...for people who mistreat animals like that. And if the position of "demon in charge" of it ever opens I hope to apply.

I know that's almost OT-- it certainly doesn't answer your question. I haven't lived with dogs for many years, so I'm not really qualified to do that. I'm sure others will give you better answers than I could. I just want to vent my rage about such horrible mistreatment. Thank you for considering adopting this poor dog.

you will be judged by the animals you have known in your life.

4. Could you bring your dog in to meet her and see how it goes?
On "animal cops" show, the owner would bring a dog in to see how the potential adoptive dog reacts.

6. Most shelters do insist on this, just to be sure.
Lizzy is right, and I think that you should try IF you're ready, willing and able to take this dog in who may need further physical therapy.

Either way, you're doing the right thing.

7. I think it would be great, Mari
The suggestion about bringing your other dog to meet her is a good one. Animals are resilient; I bet with TLC and time she would come around. She would be grateful to have a second chance for a loving family.

Plus, I like the idea of you being able to nurture her, integrate her into your family, and bring some healing to her. You have such a big and loving heart, Mari.

And, may the owners of this poor little dog die under the wheels of a gas truck, tasting their own blood.

Peace!

RV

8. Update on Tuffy
Just went down to the humane society..met little Tuffy..shes so little! shes holding one leg up, because of a fractured pelvis. I gave the humane society some money to help her with the medical costs. So far, shes terrified of other dogs, possibly because shes still so injured, and afraid of being hurt by them.
I asked the staff if I could adopt her, but I will have to wait til shes fully recovered from her abuse and injuries because I have another little dog at home and want them to meet when shes not as scared.
I sat on the floor with her and she looked up at me with her big brown eyes and loved being stroked and petted. I told her no one had the right to hurt her, and she was safe now, and no one would ever hurt her again.
Im going back every day to see her.

9. Bless you - you're wonderful!
People who injure animals should be tied to a car and allowed to learn whether they can run 90 mph to keep up with the car.

10. Thank you for looking after Tuffy!!
Poor little thing. I cannot believe, sometimes, how people mistreat
animals. Friggin' monsters.

Tuffy deserves a nice, safe home after all she has been through.

12. Aww Mari333
I hope it works out for you. Rescue animals are so loving and dear. My avatar kitty, my signature dog and the cat in the sink I posted last night have all been rescued and the best.

It sounds as if you have a special connection with Tuffy. Good Luck. :hi:

14. Hope she's ok
Poor thing. It sickens me the way some people mistreat animals. If there is an address or website where we can send donations to your local Humane Society to help with her medical care, I'd like to know. Hope everything works out and you can take her home and give her the love she deserves.
