RIP, Sylvester
Our 16 year old Siamese seal point cat died sometime Friday while I was on vacation and my partner was at work.

Not exactly sure what happened, but my partner said that the last couple of days he wasn't active at all. He took him to the vet earlier in the week because he had an eye infection.

I'm gonna miss Sylvester. He was really standoffish and ran away whenever someone came into the house, except for my partner and I. 8 years ago, when I cam into his life, it was weeks before he would come out when I was around. But over time, he got used to me.

Good bye, my friend. You will be missed.

I don't have a picture to post from work. Maybe tonight or tomorrow.

I can't imagine what a mess I will be when the dog goes.

Hopefully not soon! He is only 10.

4. I'm so sorry
I think he must have just known it was his time to go. Sounds like the two of you gave him a wonderful life.

I lost my Fergus two years ago today, so I know what you're going through. Maybe they're playing together at the Rainbow Bridge!

7. I just wish I could have been there.
Both for the cat and my partner. I think he is more upset than he is letting on.

I'm sure you gave him a wonderful home and you'll miss him. That's the heartbreaking thing about having pets, saying good bye.

16. So sorry to hear
Peace to Sylvester and condolences to you. My partner and I got two female Siamese last fall, one seal and one blue, and they are both utterly delightful, if a bit weird. They both say goodbye to their cousin Sylvester.

20. There's nothing like a siamese
I had one as a kid. Dusty was really a wonderful cat though not as stand-offish as Sylvester, it would seem. Whenever we had company she always disappeared. But sit on the couch to read the paper and she was right there in the middle of it.

Somewhere around 11 years of age Dusty started having problems with her bladder. Some days she would wail. Some days she would have accidents. Of course, I no longer lived at home so my mom was stuck caring for and cleaning up after "my" cat. Yes, my mom would rant and rave about Dusty but she never suggested the cat come to live with me. By the time Dusty was 12, she was suffering from other health problems and my family decided to have her put down. I was fine with it, even though I couldn't be there that day.

But my "cat-hating" mom cried like a baby the day she dropped her off at the vets and every time she thought of it for days afterward. Sometimes you just don't think about how much a part of your life they are until they are gone.

22. Sylvester was a lot like that
the last year or so he spent a lot of time in his bed and only came out at odd hours.

One his favorite activities was racing down the steps from the thrid floor, through the bedroom, across the bed, out the other door, through the computer room and back up the stairs. Of course he would decide to do this a midnight, while we were sleeping. It made us laugh. :)
