Is it too early for a gasoline rollcall?
I went to my local station today for a dreaded pack of smokes. Yesterday gas was 2.59. Today it is 2.89 (W Central MO).
Anybody else notice a hike?

1. Not yet,
Jackson, Michigan had a bit of a rollback the last few days, from $2.79 to $2.70 for regular.

I'm waiting to see what happens between now and the time I go home.

Should be scary.

2. Just called the locally owned station right down the street.
He said that he's raising his by 50 cents in the morning in order to compete.

3. Yikes.
I made a prediction today that I would see $3.00 tomorrow, and I'm sticking with it.

I would like to be wrong.

I saw $2.73 for Regular. That will go up by morning. Maybe we should take another poll in the morning on this . . .

I'm trying to conserve gas as much as possible but I have to drive to Baltimore tomorrow for Green Day and I know I'll have to refill when I get home!!

8. If the owner down the street is right
(and I suspect he is-he knows that money is limited for me and he told me to fuel up TONIGHT!) go get some gas now.

12. Unfortunately I filled up this weekend and don't need gas
but a 200mile trip to Baltimore and believe me, I'll be needing gas.

I'm just going to have to economize with my trips. This so sucks because I use to work 2 miles from work and I was putting in gas every other week. But now it's 20 miles round trip. I was originally going to house shop in Wilmington because it's more urban and closer to Philly but now I'm looking exclusively near my work in Newark just because I don't want to be putting all those miles on my car

16. I have a friend who is worried about gas prices right now.
She said that if it jumps by 50 cents in the near future she can no longer afford to drive to work. And most jobs in my town don't offer benefits so she's screwed either way(single mom, 3 kids).

13. Smart thinking.
I'm not doing this to diminish what happened to the Gulf today. Actually, I hope that the rise in gas will point out that even if we don't know anyone in the areas we will all still be affected by the storm.
I spoke w/ a friend earlier who stated that if gas keeps going up she will no longer be able to drive to work(and she works about 30 miles from here). She just cannot afford the commute anymore.

17. Regular went up ten cents today here in Central CA
Saturday was $2.79, now is $2.89, and a friend of mine who works at the station where I went to fill up today said it's going up again tomorrow. Premium is now officially $3.05 here, with diesel at $3.20.

This sucks worse than gravity

that gas is going up 35 cents tonight. That's here in NE Oklahoma. I assumed we were going to have a big jump, so I filled up both vehicles yesterday evening.

28. Tuesday update:
Along my lengthy trip to work, today's prices ranged (for regular) from $2.69 to $3.09.

I have to move this weekend, and will be using a thirsty 26' truck. x(
