The Grand Hotel, Point Clear, Alabama, is CLOSED.
http://www.marriottgrand.com/home.cfm

I went to college formals here in the early 60s.
It was truly a "Great Gatsby" kind of experience.

"The Grand" has been an Eastern Shore (of Mobile Bay) instituion for over a century.
During the civil war it was converted to a hospital. For both Union and Confederate soldiers. There is a cemetary for both on the grounds.

I heard that they got a 20' surge.
Damn.

1. I hate it when history and historical places are lost!
That really sucks.

2. Are you watching Countdown?
They have a helicopter flying over Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The damage is absolutely horrific. There is a Holiday Inn that was blown onto the highway. The Grand Casino was blown across the highway.
