poem inspired by NO
I want to run wild with the
abandoned beasts of the city.
Feel their scars and fur
stiffened with your abuse.
Watch their eyes shimmer
like icy tears of dirty vodka.
Mouths, pink and soft,
grinning serenely
as the worms being cut in two by
morning birds.
Hear them whisper to the humid air:
"The Lord has had mercy"
Those towers of the metropolises
cannot heard your poor souls in.
Cannot trap you.
(though they drive you mad
and you howl your sadness
to deaf and numb ears)
All the grey and horribly beautiful
monuments of our splendor
pierce and make hay
of your exploited divinity.

And the leaves that will fall
flakes of ash
made of those assaulted and crucified
angels that you gleefully
butchered.
