Today is the birthday of John Locke, founder of liberalism
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 07:31 PM by JohnLocke
Not me, but the real John Locke. Born on August 29, 1632, he's 373 years old and one of the founders of liberalism.

Happy birthday, John!

1. Despite knowing who John Locke is...
I immediately thought of the John Locke from Lost. I think I have an obsession, haha.

3. How could he be born in 2005 and be 373 years old?
That IS bloody radical!

4. Classical liberalism
Very different than 21st century liberalism in America. He is more capitalist than today's American liberals would be, but I think he would be mortified by today's religious right.

9. I don't know much about him, but you got me interested, so
now I'll have to do some research. I want to know about any "founder of liberalism." :-) Thanks!

10. Happy Birthday and Thank You.
Because of Locke I won a number of debate rounds. He has the best quotes. I quoted him almost nonstop for nearly two years straight in debate and won nearly every round.
If it wasn't for him I never would have won a scholarship for debate many years ago.
