Dumb DU related question about e-mailing a great thread. |
|
If I want to e-mail the link to a thread, will my user info be available to anyone who sees the thread? Or should I log out, copy the URL, and then post the link?
I suspect that it will go far and wide once I send it to my list and it very well should, but I don't want too much of my info available out there!

Right-click on the 'permalink' and choose 'copy shortcut' in Internet Explorer or 'copy link location' in Firefox. Paste that link into your e-mail. No personal information is included in the link.

2. Will my user id be available then, though? |
|
That's my only concern. This is going to go very far, I expect.

It was a good idea to ask. Some websites do encode that kind of thing into the URL. Du sends the forum id, topic id and message id this way as well as some other things, but not your user id. That's handled by DU giving you a special DU cookie with a session ID in it which DU will use later on to tell if you're logged in or a valid user.
