is there a way to loot all the looting threads in GD?
I'll happily loot them all if it means they all go away forever.

10. so how many GD threads CAN you read? 3?
If I were a moderator, I would abuse my powers and consolidate them into one big loot thread.

4. You know what the worst thing is
I am sick and goddamn tired of these jackasses posting from their nice dry and comfy homes talking about what they would and would not do if they were there. I'm not even from New Orleans and it's pissing me off, I can only imagine how much more pissed DUers from the area are at that bullshit.

The truth is, the situation down there is beyond all logic. None of us know what the hell we would do when faced with that kind of situation, and as such people need to drink a tall glass of STFU juice.

5. THANK YOU!
I totally agree. The only reason I've been able to go into GD is by using Hide Thread....

I'm totally stealing that one. And I agree with you by the way. I have no desire to tell people how to be refugees in waterworld.

8. A confession
I'm a closet wrestling fan and I stole that line from The Rock.

That guy had the best one-liners ever.

I don't watch wrestling, but I like The Rock
ever since he did drag on Saturday Night Live...just seeing another funny SNL skit was good enough, but The Rock in drag? Priceless.

12. Did you see Be Cool?
Him and Vince Vaughn stole the movie. The Rock played Vince Vaughn's gay bodyguard, and he had some great lines/scenes.

13. Can a moderator go in and change the message in someone else's thread?
Because that would be a fun abuse of power...go in and take out all the texts of loot threads and replace it with:

EAGLES UP!

as you can see, I'm having too much fun beating that one to death.

We don't have that kind of power. Only an admin can do that.

18. I can't stand it.
Frankly, if my family was stranded and some of us were dead - if my home crumbled and everything I had was gone - I don't know what I would do.

I would steal for my family. It's not like the stores can actually sell any of the flooded food anyway. And, I frankly wouldn't blame anyone for stealing anything that could contribute to the comfort of the survivors.

Isn't this the essence of liberal social policy? That what separates us from the freepers is that we don't deprive people of living because a few people steal from the system?

I hate what's happening. I need to stop ranting about it. But I can't stand the lack of generousity and mean-spirited hate in some of the posts. (Like people who said they'd kill people for stealing property -- even without a direct threat to their families).

Argh!!! :grr:

I understand defending family or responding to a threat, but stealing in general??

It is INSANE.

It really is a Les Miserables world in which they'll spare no expense to go after a starving man who stole bread.

It was a hoot. It was also really hot and the a/c in there sure felt good.

They had some really neat leather purses. And they were on sale. But I just couldn't buy one.

28. i have some honest questions for defenders of looters
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 12:26 AM by fishnfla
my brother lives, well, had a house, in Slidell. It's toast.

He also has a business in Gretna. We think it may have survived the storm. But we're worried about stories about looting on the westbank, specifically the police chief of Gretna reporting looting, 50 arrests as of Mon am.

If my brother's business survived the storm, but is trashed by the looters, would y'all be OK with that? (He has expensive equipment and inventory, not food, but 'street worthy' stuff).

More to the point, do you think he should be OK with that?

And think of the bigger picture, all them mom and pop places getting looted, have moms and pops, and employees, and their homes are damaged too, now their shops? And they are suppossed to go back into the community and set up shop among the very people that trashed their stores? How does that work? ( a reporter on wwltv described in detail the looting of a corner store tonight)

I see where DUers are getting hollered out in the lounge for not being compassionate in GD. Its a thin veil, I get it. Well ya know, I have seen all the horrid pictures coming from GNO. I haven't talked to my bro since Monday am., and I see people on DU defending looters.

The whole thing just dont feel right.
